Law and Order is an important cornerstone of New Nation’s priority policies.
Included in this policy are changes to police training and a 25 percent increase in front line police each year for two years. Special task forces will be increased, as will the policing of gang activity.
Rehabilitative and working prisons will have educational and life skill programmes. Drug treatment in prisons will be better funded.
We will tighten bail laws, including no bail for serious offences. These will include sex offences, serious assault (including domestic violence), serious fraud, gang-related crime, burglary and robbery, prior breach of bail conditions, and others.
New Nation Party will overhaul the Sentencing Act, and introduce night courts to reduce trial wait times and delays.
